Redis is used by many of the biggest websites in the world and yet despite such large usage, it’s actually an incredibly simple tool to use. In essence, Redis is just a key based cache albeit a really good one. The api is easy to understand and provides just enough without adding unnecessary complication.
If you’ve used other caching frameworks like MemCached you’ll be impressed with just how little you need to do to get it up and running. Like many tools you can install it from a docker container and then just add the appropriate library for your development language. The Node implementation is really just a very thin layer on top of the Redis api so once you’ve added the 2 lines of configuration, you can use the Redis docs directly. The documentation is clean and straightforward and can be read in entirety in minutes.
If you’ve been thinking about Redis then just give it a try and you’ll wonder why you didn’t use it earlier. If you want help introducing Redis into your project then please get in contact.
